It's National Cereal Day! Truth be told, cereal is probably a staple at most of our tables. We have definitely shared a few cereal-related posts at On Your Table over the years. Check them out here:
Fueling food fear: Your breakfast cereal is just fine!
If you look closely at the last one, it has a picture of a recipe called Baby Ruth Bars. It was a recipe Amy's fifth-grade friend made every week. And it was Amy's favorite way to eat cereal!
Did you know that the Kellogg brothers were the ones who revolutionized the breakfast industry by inventing CornFlakes?
Here is a supremely simple recipe for Cornflake Bars:
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup white syrup
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups cornflakes
Instructions:
Bring sugar and white syrup to a boil for 1 minute.
Add the peanut butter and mix well. Add the cornflakes and press in a 9 x 13 cake pan. Cut when still warm as they could get too hard to cut otherwise.
What is your favorite cereal dessert recipe? Feel free to share it with us at onyourtable@ndfb.org. And happy National Cereal Day!!
