In the spirit of the 4th of July holiday, I decided to make one of my favorite desserts- fruit pizza! Disclaimer: I’m not a huge fan of cooking or baking, but I am trying to learn to enjoy the process more. This recipe is super easy, even for me. This fruit pizza recipe is from the "Dine Dream Discover" blog with a few of my own adjustments to fit how I wanted it to look and taste.
You will most likely see more articles from me sharing my experiences of trying different recipes for dinner ideas or baked goods. Bear with me, as I said, I’m not great at this, but I am hoping to inspire anyone else who might be right there with me in the newbie cooking department!
Let's get down to it with this fruit pizza dessert! Below are the recipe ingredients and instructions:
4TH Of JULY FRUIT PIZZA
Yield: 1 fruit pizza
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Decorative Toppings:
Cut strawberries
Blueberries
*optional ingredients- cut bananas, spray whipped cream*
Frosting:
1 package of cream cheese (at room temp)
1 tsp of vanilla
1 cup of powder sugar
Crust:
1 package of sugar cookie dough
Instructions:
Crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Place parchment paper on a 9x13" pan
Press cookie dough evenly into pan making a flat rectangle as your crust
Place pan into oven and let bake for 15-18 minutes (crust should start to turn golden around edges and through middle)
Once baked, let cool
Frosting
Mix 1 tsp vanilla, 1 package of cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar until smooth
Spread mixture on top of the crust as evenly as possible
Add cut strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and/or whip cream in any decorative way you'd like (decorative ideas for 4th of July: "USA," American flag, fireworks)
Refrigerate until ready to eat- best if made right before your meal or event to keep fresh
ENJOY!
I really loved how easy this was. The mess was minimal, the prep and actual bake time was short. I think this will now be a frequently requested treat in our household.
Wishing you all a safe and fun 4th of July!
