Your clothes, your money and your lotion all more than likely started on a farm. It's true. Agriculture plays a role in all our lives.
For instance, did you know that American paper money is made of 75 percent cotton and 25 percent linen? Cotton is grown in southern states like Mississippi, Texas and Arizona.
Wool comes from sheep and comes off the animal when they are shorn. Sheep shearing is like getting a haircut. Wool clothing is particularly nice for cold winters! Wool also gives us lanolin, which is like a lotion. In fact, when farmers shear their sheep, many say their hands get soft from all the lanolin they are in contact with!
Agriculture even helps you get from one place to another. Did you know that biodiesel comes from soybeans? And ethanol comes from corn or sorghum?
