Apple crisp

Apple crisp

by Haley Robison

Nothing says fall to me like warm apple crisp. Warm apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is one of my all time favorite desserts! We have some neighbors with an abundance of apple trees, so that means I get lot and lots of apples (usually too much so the pigs appreciate the extras). I like to pre-make apple filling for all of the winter events- Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just a cold blizzardy day!

Here’s my favorite apple crisp recipe! I’m all about quick and easy and this is just that!

Apple Crisp

Ingredients

Apple Filling:

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup flour

3/4 tsp cinnamon

Dash of nutmeg

7 medium sized apples (peeled & sliced)

Splash of lemon juice

Topping:

1 cup oatmeal

1 cup all purpose flour

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine apples and filling ingredients. In a separate bowl, combine the topping ingredients. Fill 9 by 13 baking dish with apple filling, then crumble the topping mixture over the apples. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes.

Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and ENJOY!! *Yes I leave peels on the apples. Not sure why, but I like it better that way!
