Findings from a June 2026 International Food Information Council (IFIC ) Spotlight Survey show Americans actively engage with label information while grocery shopping.

A majority of Americans (79%) say they check nutrition or ingredient information on packaging at least sometimes, and 80% say Front of Package (FOP) nutrition information influences their purchasing decisions at least sometimes.

Americans also report looking for a broad range of information on packaging, led by calories, total sugars, protein, sodium, and added sugars.
