If you are like me, you're always trying to improve our eating habits and balance your vitamins, minerals, protein, fat, and fiber. Yes, fiber.
You know you’ve hit “old” status when you ask your mom a question and she replies, “Well are you getting enough fiber, honey?”
Should I really be worried about that? I’m not THAT old!
So here I am on the 14-day Metamucil Fiber Challenge. It’s not really a “challenge.” You just increase your intake in three segments over two weeks. So far so good! It’s supposed to help you feel lighter (well I would think so) and give you more energy. We’ll see how this goes. I do eat a lot of whole grains and fruits and veggies but apparently, I need more. If nothing else, this “challenge” is helping me reach my liquid requirement intake each day. I also love hot tea in the winter so I’m staying hydrated.
There are so many fad diets and so-called quick fixes when it comes to health and nutrition. The best advice I can give you is to be cautious with any "wonder" program or diet. If it isn’t from a trusted company or sounds to good to be true, be very skeptical.
Pay attention to what your body needs and what your fitness goals are. (And I don’t mean fit’ness whole maple doughnut in my mouth either!)
A new year often means new resolutions. If yours are health-related, I hope you are able to stick with them. Any time you can improve your health, it’s a plus for you as well as your family.
It helps to be active with your kids. Get moving. That's really the best place to start. It will improve your mood, and your family relationships.
Great winter ideas are bowling, indoor trampoline parks, archery, tubing/sledding/skiing, anything you can do together that requires you to open your lungs and get your heart rate up!
