Growing Brossart Farms

Growing Brossart Farms

By Jennie Brossart

A little over a year ago, the local John Deere dealership brought a new John Deere X9 combine out for us to demo. It was the day before school started. Braden (10), Beric (5) and I had been in town for Braden's football practice. When we pulled into the yard, I barely had the car stopped before both boys jumped out and took off running across the yard to check out the combine. Braden ran in the house to grab an old cell phone so they could make a video all about the X9 Combine and that is where the Brossart Farms YouTube Channel got its start.

From the time they were babies, we have always taken our kids to the field to experience agriculture. Braden, especially, has always loved to be in a tractor helping out in the field. We believe if you don't show your kids what you do as a farmer and let them work and learn alongside you, they will not learn to love the life we live.

I asked Braden why he wanted to start a YouTube channel and he said it was because a lot of his friends have one. I pried a little more and asked why he chose to make his videos all about farming. He said because it is what he enjoys and he wants to share his interests with others.

We love that Braden and Beric are following their passion by making videos and explaining what we are doing on the farm and why. They are always learning new things about the equipment, the crops, and why we do what we do. We are very proud of them for educating the public about life on the farm. My favorite videos are the ones where I actually learn things about farming and the equipment from Braden!

One of Braden's recent videos was about barley harvest. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/ywqWL4iUSvg. Make sure to check out Brossart Farms on YouTube and remember to Like and Subscribe!
