It has been hot. I’m talking walk outside and think you’re in a furnace. It isn’t nearly as humid on the west side of the state, so I should start using “it’s a dry heat.”
Our poor little flowers are all singed and crisp-looking. We tried moving them to more shady areas, but I think the heat was just too intense.
When it’s Satan’s-belching hot outside, we try to stay cool, so besides drinking LOTS of water, swimming in water, playing in water, and watering the poor little plants repeatedly, and all things water, we also make lemonade.
Y’all with your packets of XYZ get away from me. I’m talking real lemonade. So gather ‘round under the fan, and pay attention, this is how you make real lemonade:
Take 6 cups of water, add a cup of sugar and 1 cup of lemon juice. Stir everything to combine and chill! If you really want to get fancy, skip the bottled lemon juice and use fresh-squeezed lemons. Depending on size, five or six should yield about a cup and then cut some slices for in your pitcher.
You can also pour lemonade into an ice cube tray and use with your lemonade.
So next time you need to cool off, don’t reach for a canister or packet, just grab some lemons and sugar (we’ve used both standard and cane sugar) and make yourself a batch of the best lemonade this side of the border.
Did I mention you can swap vodka and water??? That might be for a different blog.
Stay cool!
