Time to celebrate! No we don't mean New Year's Eve, although we'll be celebrating that soon enough. We're talking about National Bacon Day!

Today, December 30, is National Bacon Day! This is NOT to be confused with International Bacon Day, which is typically celebrated on September 5. Or National Bacon Lovers Day, which is August 20.

Because we need have as many opportunities as possible to celebrate bacon.

Bacon is a beloved food. In fact, according to Pork.org, 53% of homes keep bacon on hand at all times. In addition bacon and eggs are eaten together 71% of the time. And although bacon is still largely consumed for breakfast (57%) people enjoy it for lunch and dinner as well. (And a few even enjoy it for a snack!)

Did you know a 275-pound pig can yield 16 pounds of bacon?
