Pantry essentials - Tortillas for the win

Pantry essentials - Tortillas for the win

By Lisa Hauf

When it comes to pantry essentials, our family always has a few non-negotiables: milk, bread, eggs, and… tortillas!

The Freezer-Friendly Wonder

One of the best things about tortillas is their ability to freeze well. Stock up on a big pack, toss them in the freezer, and they’ll be ready whenever you need them. This is especially handy for busy families like ours, where meal prep and last-minute dinners are a regular occurrence.

Thankfully, the types of tortillas available at the grocery story are amazing!

Kid-Approved Meals

Tortillas are a lifesaver when it comes to feeding kids. One of our household favorites is cinnamon and sugar roll-ups. Simply spread some butter, sprinkle on a mix of cinnamon and sugar, roll it up, and you’ve got a quick, sweet treat that kids love.

But let’s not forget the ultimate crowd-pleaser: tacos. Tacos top my children’s dinner request list. They’re quick to make and customizable, ensuring everyone at the table gets exactly what they like.

Breakfast to Dinner – Endless Options

Tortillas are not just for dinner; they shine at every meal. Breakfast burritos are a go-to in our house. Make a big batch, fill them with eggs, cheese, and your favorite protein, then freeze them. When morning chaos hits, just pop one in the microwave, and breakfast is served.

For lunch, quesadillas are a hit. Whether it’s classic cheese, loaded with leftover chicken, or packed with veggies and beans, there’s a quesadilla for every mood and craving.

And if you’re looking for a lighter option, tortillas make perfect wraps. From deli meat and cheese to salad-filled creations, you can put just about anything in a tortilla and turn it into a satisfying meal.

Let’s be real: tortillas are a blank canvas. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, healthy, or indulgent, they’ve got you covered. They keep everyone happy and well-fed.

So, next time you’re stocking up on staples, remember the humble tortilla.
