We all love the chance to learn and grow in certain areas of our life. I love being able to take my daughter along when I go to events and give her a chance to expand her knowledge off our farm and small rural community.
Last Friday I was able to meet with a bunch of women with all different backgrounds to discuss conservation and agriculture at Cottonwood Cider House near Fargo.
We had an amazing time discussing pollinators, land use, logistics, and a variety of other topics. Unfortunately, I had to leave at lunchtime, but it took me to another adventure, the Red River Valley Fair and Cass County Farm Bureau’s Ag Education Center.
Children and parents come through the ag education center and are able to stop at different booths, do “chores” with crops and animals, take items to the markets, and buy a prize. It was such a good experience being in an urban environment and giving families an opportunity to draw closer to agriculture in a positive way.
Volunteers, animal and commodity groups, and other ag organizations all pitch in to make it a success.
In agriculture we work with all different kinds of people in all different kinds of settings and it always proves to be rewarding for both sides and helps us build better connections with each other.
