1,000 miles, a family reunion and lessons learned

Imagine traveling 15 hours, one way, across two states with four siblings and a sister-in-law – who is just like a sister – to attend your uncle’s 97th birthday party. Engrained family dynamics can easily play out in a situation like that, especially when the only distraction is the scenery. While it could have been a recipe for disaster, when those dynamics started to play out, we tried to make light of it and actually had a great time.

The plan was to meet up with cousins I had not seen in more than 20 years.  One cousin drove her motorhome from Texas with my aunt (and my aunt’s cat). We wanted to see how many of us could fit into her motor home. That’s where the fun really began!
