Fuel tax refund deadline coming soon

Tax Commissioner Cory Fong reminds eligible consumers that June 30 is the last day to apply for a refund of the state fuel taxes they paid on gasoline/gasohol purchased during 2010. The refund is available to farmers, ranchers, industrial contractors, emergency medical services operations and certain Native Americans.

N.D. leaders press for assistance for farmers in Devils Lake basin

A priority issue for North Dakota Farm Bureau has received attention from North Dakota leaders. Gov. Jack Dalrymple and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring have asked federal officials to make an exception in prevented planting policy for producers in the Devils Lake basin whose farms have shrunk or disappeared due to the lake’s rising waters.

Court decision gives AFBF seat at the table in pesticide lawsuit

A June 3 decision by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California allowing the American Farm Bureau Federation and other agricultural groups to intervene in a major lawsuit over pesticide use and the Endangered Species Act gives the groups a “seat at the table” in settlement discussions, according to Ellen Steen, AFBF’s general counsel.
