According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, most people believe that the majority of today's farms are large corporate-owned farms.
In reality, the opposite is true.
Ninety-one percent of all farms are considered small farms, according to the 2007 Census of Agriculture. Small farms actually increased by 18,467 between 2002 and 2007 and account for more than half of the land in farms nationally.
