DSU student wins Collegiate Discussion Meet

Topic: Leadership

Kyle Anderson (pictured above far left), a student at Dickinson State University, won the NDFB Collegiate Farm Bureau Discussion Meet, held during the 80th NDFB Annual Meeting in Bismarck at the Bismarck Hotel and Conference Center, Nov. 18-19.

Anderson was one of four contestants competing in the meet. The other contestant from DSU was Konrich Speelmon. The two contestants from North Dakota State University Collegiate Farm Bureau were Tyler Goplen and Stetson Urlacher.

Anderson is from Hamilton, Mont. and is a fifth-year senior majoring in business administration.

“Kyle has been a great addition to the DSU Collegiate Farm Bureau,” said DSU Collegiate Farm Bureau advisor Haley Robison. “He shows up for every meeting, voices his concerns and opinions and encourages others to get involved. He will represent DSU well at nationals in Florida."

Anderson will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for the American Farm Bureau Federation Collegiate Discussion Meet during the AFBF Fusion Conference in March of 2023.

The Discussion Meet helps participants develop their ability to generate meaningful discussion in a committee-like setting. The four finalists discussed how Farm Bureau can effectively support and equip young farmers and ranchers to successfully manage economic and infrastructure challenges to ensure healthy and sustainable farms and ranches across the country.
