Foundation receives PaY grant

Topic: Education

Bismarck, ND -- Fargo North High School PaY committee members chose the NDFB Foundation as one of the five charities to receive a $1,000 grant.

Philanthropy and Youth (PaY) is designed to introduce high school students to the importance of leadership and service through grantmaking. High schools in Fargo-Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, and the surrounding area are each allocated $5,000 to use for grantmaking in the community. Student-led committees first identify areas of focus, then research local community nonprofits and visit organizations before deciding how to award the grant money.

Fargo North High School students focused on mental health, environment and youth development. Their values encompassed compassion, impact, excellence and sustainability.

“The students involved with PaY at Fargo North High School did an outstanding job at interviewing and researching the NDFB Foundation to see if it aligns with their focus and values,” said NDFB Executive Vice President and CEO Jeffrey Missling. “We are thrilled to have been selected for the grant and it will go towards educating the youth about where their food comes from through our Special Assignment Pizza program.”

The NDFB Promotion and Education Committee helps kids learn more about where their pizza ingredients come from with Special Assignment Pizza (SAP) events held throughout the state each year. Over 5,000 students are reached each year through SAP.

More information about SAP can be found here. Learn more about the NDFB Foundation and ways to give on the Foundation website.
