American Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers, Promotion and Education and Women’s Leadership Committees met in Nashville at the Fusion Conference, February 13-16.
North Dakota Farm Bureau had representatives from the Young Farmer and Ranchers Committee, NDSU and DSU Collegiate Farm Bureau and the NDFB Promotion and Education Committee in attendance.
Derek Mulhern, American Farm Bureau’s Director of Program Development, says the goal of the conference is to equip leaders.
“They do anything from attend an advocacy track to a business session to learning about the new technologies within the agriculture industry, and really just working to strengthen all of those people that are leaders within the Farm Bureau community to really hone in on their leader development skills to be leaders in their community,” Mulhern said.
NDFB Director of Leadership Development Joey Tigges said the North Dakota group really enjoyed networking with other producers from all the different states.
“They were able to ask other members what kinds of programs they have in their states and which ones work. The speakers were good and the entertainment was great. This conference is something our members will look forward to,” Tigges said.
Collegiate Farm Bureau participants in the Discussion Meet were Jodi Boe, who represented NDSU, and Hannah Frazier from Dickinson State University.
“The collegiate Discussion Meet is always fun to watch. Both our contestants did a very nice job and represented North Dakota well. Hannah made it into the Sweet 16 round,” Tigges said.
