NDFB statement on passage of SB 2211
Doyle Johannes, President

“North Dakota Farm Bureau is pleased that a comprehensive, workable animal cruelty bill has been passed by the 63rd Legislative Assembly. Our lobbyists have worked diligently on behalf of our members to include provisions in the language that safeguard animal agriculture in the state, while still protecting animals. We feel that the bill as passed represents the best compromise that could be achieved, and we are thankful for the diligent and level-headed work of the sub-committee appointed by Chairman Johnson and the conference committee. We also appreciate how well the House worked with NDFB in getting amendments to the bill that will do what we have worked for throughout this session: Animal cruelty legislation that is more about protecting animals, rather than punishing people.“
