NDFB Week is almost here

Sunday is the day. The beginning of the 21st observance of NDFB Week in North Dakota. I was here for that. (I’ve been here for more years than I care to admit, actually!) But I couldn’t really remember much about that first NDFB Week celebration.

So I went to the files. Oh my was that fun! I found a document that had ideas from several of the staff members at that time. Things like advertising on milk cartons, guessing the cost of items in a shopping cart, having county Farm Bureau members visit their local media to give them food and brochures. That first year, we also gave away a free NDFB denim shirt to someone each day of the week. We asked county Farm Bureaus to place registration boxes in their offices and send all the registrations they collected to our Bismarck office so we could draw seven winners. We also had the governor at the time (now U.S. Senator) John Hoeven, issue a proclamation for Farm Bureau Week.
