Neighbors helping neighbors

Topic: Leadership

AFBF President Zippy Duvall has issued a call to action to help those impacted by the recent hurricane in North Carolina.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to our friends in North Carolina as they face the devastating impact of Hurricane Florence," Duvall said. "As the storm clouds lift, the long, hard work of recovery will begin. In times of crisis, we see the resilience of our rural communities, as neighbors band together to help neighbors. It’s also a time when we come together across the Farm Bureau family to share our support."

Although the full extent of damage from the storm is still being calculated, destruction is expected to be widespread and recovery long.

"Many of the rural areas impacted by Hurricane Florence are still recovering from Hurricane Matthew flooding in 2016," Duvall said.

For those looking to lend a hand in the farm and rural community recovery efforts, North Carolina Farm Bureau has set up a relief fund through its foundation to help address agricultural losses due to Hurricane Florence.
