NDSU student wins Collegiate Discussion Meet

Topic: Events

FARGO, ND - Bailey Urlacher, a student at North Dakota State University, won the NDFB Collegiate Farm Bureau Discussion Meet during the 83rd NDFB Annual Meeting, held Nov. 21–22 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo.

Urlacher was one of four contestants in the competition. The other NDSU contestant was Linnea Axtman. Representing Dickinson State University Collegiate Farm Bureau were Ricky Hescock and Jayce Schroeder.

Urlacher is a sophomore majoring in animal science with a minor in agricultural communications. She grew up near Regent, North Dakota, on a Black Angus ranch.

“Bailey is going to do a fantastic job representing North Dakota at the national competition,” said Alisha Nord, advisor for NDSU Collegiate Farm Bureau. “Her positive energy and passion for Farm Bureau and agriculture truly shine. We're confident she's going to make a wonderful impression.”

The NDFB Collegiate Discussion Meet provides students an opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue on key agricultural issues, similar to a committee meeting. Participants exchange ideas and information on a predetermined agricultural topic, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The experience helps students strengthen their discussion abilities, deepen their understanding of agricultural challenges, and explore the value of collaborative knowledge sharing.

Urlacher will travel to Portland, Oregon, this upcoming March for the American Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet during the AFBF Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference.
