When you need diversity...

The obligations of fatherhood took me on the road to Des Moines, Iowa last week. It’s a pleasant drive with interstate all the way. On the drive, I saw Minnesota and Iowa during daylight hours and it reminded me how important agriculture is to our states. Agriculture is truly the economic foundation of North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa, not to mention our country.

There is one stark difference between North Dakota and the other states I traveled, however. Minnesota and Iowa support diversity within their ag economies in the form of modern livestock production. Why?
