Working for the brand

One of the best things about rural America is the way friends and neighbors help each other with jobs around the farm or ranch. Neighbors helping neighbors is really part of our rural culture in the ag community, and it’s part of our history as well. We’re familiar with barn raisings, and stories of pioneers helping each other build a cabin or soddy. My father had some of these stories from his childhood and I fondly remember one of the barns the neighbors helped raise. I’m sure there are a lot of these stories still shared in North Dakota. It’s almost like visualizing a Norman Rockwell painting to think of these gatherings to where people share talents and muscles to make a big job easier.
